The Director, Talent Acquisition is accountable for leading a dynamic and talented recruitment team with a focus on executing recruitment strategies to proactively source and recruit top talent for the organization. The successful incumbent in this role will have an in-depth understanding of talent acquisition operations and the markets we operate in. This foundation will foster strong proactive partnerships with hiring managers and internal stakeholders to ensure business needs are translated into recruitment strategies, initiatives and practices.

Accountabilities

* Lead a multi-site recruitment team in an environment that encourages quick thinking, aggressive sourcing skills and a proactive approach toward talent acquisition

* Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of talent acquisition processes through the development of consistent, standardized processes for sourcing, screening, interviewing and developing competitive offers

* Develop and maintain recruitment metrics that align with organizational objectives, managing recruitment performance against established key metrics. Ensure accurate and timely reporting, analysis and communication to management, hiring managers and Human Resources partners.

* Support the organization's talent and staffing needs by partnering with HR and business leaders to drive talent acquisition strategies across multiple functional areas

* Using a consultative approach, work with hiring managers to best define optimal candidate attributes, and then develop sourcing strategies to attract and hire new employees

* Coach and counsel recruitment team on recruitment strategy, process administration, consulting skills and sourcing techniques including complex searches

* Demonstrate knowledge of current best practices in talent acquisition including leveraging technology, social media, and industry networks

* Ensure all recruitment and selection activities are in compliance with government regulations and organizational policies and procedures

* Partner with Talent Acquisition peers and teams in Canada and the HR Center of Expertise to ensure consistent overall governance and execution of the function

* Serve as the project team lead for US Talent Acquisition on various initiatives

* Champion diversity and inclusion, partnering with the EEO team to ensure that Sun Life is in compliance and can successfully report on the success of our diversity & inclusion initiatives

* Manage our contingent workforce program, ensuring an effective program that provides high quality candidates in a timely manner

Experience and Capabilities

* Ten (10 ) years of experience in Human Resources preferably leading and managing a talent acquisition function

* Demonstrated team leadership and people management skills; hands-on coaching and mentoring experience

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

* Expertise in talent acquisition best practices with an ability to adapt practices based on environmental considerations

* Strong customer focus and an ability to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence, and confidence

* Ability to develop and nurture productive business relationships, and influence and educate internal stakeholders

* Demonstrated consultative, interpersonal and project management skills

* Proven ability to drive execution and achieve business results

* Demonstrated ability to produce quality work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, balancing high production with the delivery of longer term objectives

* Strong knowledge of current e-recruiting techniques including LinkedIn, Workday and job boards

* Current knowledge of talent acquisition trends and market intelligence

* Continuous improvement mindset

* BA/BS degree in Human Resources, business administration or related field preferred
